I'm Adrian Metzelaar, a London-based visual effects artist with a deep love for landscape and outdoor photography. My passion for photography began in secondary school, where I first discovered SLR cameras and black-and-white film.
The emergence of visual effects in films like Jurassic Park and Terminator 2 captured my imagination and sparked a new dream: to be part of that world. Determined to make it a reality, I pursued a university degree, worked hard, and landed my first job in 2001, which led me to move to London.
That same year, my journey took another dimension as I blended my love for photography with a burgeoning passion for travel. Exploring new places and capturing their essence through my lens became a way to connect with the world and express myself. Then, in 2007, I visited Skye and Scotland for the first time—a transformative experience. The rugged landscapes and untamed beauty of these places resonated deeply, forging a connection that has stayed with me ever since.
Life is often a series of crossroads, and in 2023, I faced one of my own. Health challenges served as a wake-up call, urging me to realign my life with what truly matters. It was a pivotal moment, an opportunity to recommit to my passions and embrace the healing power of nature.
Through every twist and turn, photography has been my constant, a way to connect with the world and share its beauty. Some of my favorite adventures have taken me to breathtaking places from the Isle of Skye and Patagonia, where I've chased the perfect shot under stunning skies. One of my recent achievements was having my astrophotography from Patagonia recognized among the top 100 in the International Landscape Photographer of the Year awards.
